Hello, and welcome to my blog! I will do my best to give you a lot of interesting entries.
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Mary Wilson and I'm a decorative artist who specialized in handpainting animals. I've been painting since, I believe , 2002 but not sure about that. I picked up painting when I was layed off from 20 years of being a travel agent. After the tragedy of 9/11, the travel industry started to spiral downhill. I was unemployed for about a year and a half. In my 47 years, it was the first time I had been without a job since I started working at age 17. I became very bored and needed something to occupy my time so I went to our local craft store and bought a Donna Dewberry painting book, some paint and brushes and learned to paint. Oh it sure didn't come overnight. In fact, I think it was over a month before I was able to produce anything that was remotely recognizable.
My real reason for wanting to start painting was my desire to paint animals. I was very active in a local animal shelter and wanted to do something that I could sell to help out the homeless kitties and doggies in the area.
This is when I realized my 2 main passions in life.....animals and painting. Today, I still donate a percentage of my sales to no kill shelters or rescues. Please feel free to check out my website at
http://www.petloversboutique.com/ . Whenever a customer makes a purchase, they can click on a drop down menu to choose the animal rescue or shelter that they want their proceeds to go to.
Another great passion that I have is for shopping! I love finding unique gift items for reasonable prices. I also have a shop on etsy. For those who are not familiar, Etsy is like an ebay of handmade items. You will also find vintage items on there. Check it out! It's a FANTASTIC source of unique gift items!
http://www.etsy.com/ . Of course, while you are there, please check out my shop at
http://www.petloversboutique.etsy.com/ .
Etsy is loaded with very talented craftsmen and artists. You will find everything from fine art to card making. Woodworking to jewelry. If it's hand made, it's on Etsy!
Over the next months, I will be sharing with you some of the great finds I've found on both Etsy and online. I'm hoping that you will consider them while doing your Christmas shopping this year. With the cost of everything going up, up, up, it would be great to find gifts for your loved ones that are truely unique without costing you an arm and a leg.
I will also be sharing with you information regarding pets. If I find some useful information, funny videos or other interesting pet related things, I'll be sure th pass them on. In fact, in the future, I will be looking for some Pet Models for my painting by holding a pet photo contest. Look for this in the fall.
Until then, puppy dog kisses and kitty cat purrs to you all!
Mary
P.S. Be sure to check out my own fur babies.
